A delicious dessert with OREO cookies, chocolate cake and cream cheese, this Cookies and Cream Gooey Butter Cake will not last long at your house.
It was a cold day. Okay, it was freezing cold. The older three kids had gone back to school after two weeks off for Christmas break. Our youngest, Caleb, needed some mom attention because he was swallowed up by the older ones for two weeks. You know what I mean. Older three home vs only child for 7 hours.
He desperately needed some mom time.
I had already been chased, chased him around the house and played two person Duck, Duck, Goose. Have you ever played two person Duck, Duck, Goose?
I’m sure you get the point.
I wanted to make a delicious dessert for us to eat that night for supper but I also wanted something to share on here. I thought Caleb could help me “make” in the kitchen. He loves to help in the kitchen and I enjoy having him help me. Most of the time, anyway.
Smashing the OREO cookies
Gooey Butter Cake is a favorite around here. It is something my husband’s mom made for years while he was growing up. I now make many different versions of the Gooey Butter Cake like these Gooey Butter Cookies or Gooey Strawberry Cookies.
My newest creation: Cookies and Cream Gooey Butter Cake. And it was so.very.good. Times 10.
So he may need a lesson in Chocolate Chip spreading
Cookies and Cream Gooey Butter Cake
The bottom of the cake is a chocolate cake mix and the top is OREO cookies with cream cheese. Yes, I know.
The cake is soft and delicious. Flavorful and chocolatey. There aren’t many ingredients and you can have it in the oven quickly. Then you can eat it.
