Monster Cookies are a fun dessert recipe full of peanut butter, oatmeal, chocolate chips and M&M's. Chewy and delicious, these treats will be a hit.

When I told Caleb (3) I was making monster cookies, he immediately assumed "Monster Cookies". In other words, like a "monster cookie".

My husband didn't help because he started talking to him like the cookie was going to be big and blue. You know, Cookie Monster. I had to inform him we could eat the cookies and they had M&M's in them. Quite frankly, that is all it took. He didn't care if they were blue or not anymore. :-)

Monster cookies have a fun variety of ingredients in them. What is great about these cookies is you can add just about any mix-in you want and it will work. If you like coconut, add coconut. If you want raisins, add raisins. I think Craisins and white chocolate chips would be great as well.

We stuck to the basics when making them and added peanut butter, peanut butter chips, chocolate chips and M&M's. Apparently, nothing overly healthy. ;-)

How To Make Monster Cookie Tips:

:: Not every one adds flour to their cookies, which I did. I think the finish product without flour falls apart easily. I would go with just a little bit of flour.

:: This recipe makes a lot of cookies. If you want big monster cookies, go for it; you have plenty of dough. I made some larger and some smaller. That way the three year old doesn't get a 14 year old portion. We all know what happens when you try to break a cookie in half. Not a happy three year old. I still do it, mind you, but it never results in a happy three year old.

:: Experiment with the ingredients! Add your favorite mix-ins. Learn what works and what doesn't. Then have a reason to make them again!

:: I highly recommend parchment paper or baking mats for these cookies. I am a cooking spray girl, but these cookies stick slightly and it really is best to use the paper or mats.
