This recipe is for a 8 inch or 9 inch square pan. However, you can double it easily because one box of cake mix is for a 9x13 inch pan. So for this recipe, you only need ½ of the package of cake mix. I chose to make two square pans and make the Apple Dump Cake recipe as well so my family would have a cherry dump cake and an apple one as well.

The only requirements for this dessert recipe is it is a dump and go recipe. Which makes it so simple! All you need is the pan you are going to bake it in and a bowl to melt the margarine (butter). That is all!
The pan cherry pie filling will go on the bottom of the pan then the cake mix on top. After that, the melted margarine. It will all bake together quickly and easily.

Cherry Dump Cake

- 1 8 or 9 inch square baking dish
- 1 small bowl to melt the butter
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups yellow cake mix ½ of the package
- 21 oz cherry pie filling
- ½ cup margarine melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375℉.
- Spray square pan with cooking spray.
- Add the cherries to the bottom of the pan.
- Sprinkle the cake mix on top of the cherries.
- Pour the melted margarine on top of the cake mix evenly.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until top is golden brown and set and the cherries are bubbling.
- Remove from oven and let cool 30 minutes before serving. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
Notes
- Butter can be used in place of margarine.
- To use all the cake mix, either use two cans of cherry pie filling and a 9x13 pan or make two square pans, one with cherry pie filling and the other with apple pie filling. Dry cake mix can be stored by placing it in a plastic zipped bag and labeling it. Use within the month.
