Apple cider is one of the greatest treats one can enjoy. No really. I love all things apple and when you throw cinnamon, spice and orange juice in the mix, not only do you have Easy Slow Cooker Spiced Apple Cider but you have deliciousness in a crock pot.

This drink is pleasing to the eye, pleasing to the taste buds, takes about 4 minutes to put together and makes your home smell wonderful all day... that is something to be excited about. What is even better is all the different varieties of apple cider there are like Apple Cider Floats and Apple Cider Punch.

Crock Pot Apple Cider can be made for Holidays. You can easily take the ingredients with you and make it at Grandma's or Aunt Ruth's. Or you can make it at home and take it with you.

    Ingredients

    • apple juice - any brand will work
    • orange juice - any brand will work, I would advise
    • allspice
    • cinnamon
    • cloves
    • brown sugar
    • orange slices - for garnish
    • whole cranberries - for garnish

    Is cider hard to make?

First, remember that you can cook this on your stove top. It will cook faster, of course and I would advise stirring it every so often. If you cook it in your Crock Pot, it is a set it and forget it type of drink. Which, of course, is great for a busy Thanksgiving or Christmas morning.

    The apple cider secret

The secret to this apple cider's success is the orange juice and orange slices used in the recipe. The cranberries add a little something as well.

Orange and cranberry pair well together (along with the apple). I used orange in my cranberry sauce, and in the orange cranberry bread loaves.

Also, don't worry so much about the other spices. There is allspice, cloves, and cinnamon. I will give the exact measurements below, but you can be a little giving on the cinnamon measurement. I would stick with exact allspice measurements. That spice can be rather strong.

After putting all the ingredients in a slow cooker, give it a stir, set it on high or low (see below) and walk away. Then enjoy the delicious smell of apple, cranberry and orange in your kitchen. If an orange flavored recipe is your favorite, try Russian Tea.

    Equipment

    • 1 crock pot

    Ingredients

    • 2 quarts apple juice
    • 1 cup orange juice
    • ½ teaspoon allspice
    • 1 ½ teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1 teaspoon cloves
    • ¼ cup brown sugar
    • 1 sliced oranges for garnish
    • ½ cup whole cranberries washed

    Instructions

    • Add all ingredients to a crock pot.
    • Stir all ingredients together.
    • Set crock pot on low and cook for 3-4 hours.

    Notes

    1. The apple cider will be quite warm when you serve it so be sure to let it cool down a bit before drinking.
    2. If you want to add a little counter to the sweetness, add ½ cup of cranberry juice to the ingredients.
    3. If using paper cups, be sure to use insulated cups when serving. Regular coffee mugs work as well.
