    Ingredients

    • lemon juice - can use freshly squeezed lemon juice
    • water
    • sugar
    • Ginger Ale - any brand will work
lemon juice with ginger ale and sugar.

Four simple ingredients that you may already have in your house! The lemon juice can be from freshly squeezed lemons or from concentrate. Either works and to be honest, the taste of a freshly squeezed lemon can't be beat. However, the ease of the concentrate is where it is at. So, the choice is up to you!

    Heating the lemon juice

The sugar needs to be dissolved and the best way to do that is on the stove. The water and sugar will combine and the sugar will dissolve because of the heat. That will help make a syrup for the lemon juice to be stirred in to.

water and sugar with lemon juice in a pan.

The water and sugar will appear clear then the lemon juice will be stirred in. The lemon juice doesn't need to be heated up too long, but it is good to encourage the flavors to get to know each other in the pan.

    Refrigeration

This lemonade drink recipe can be made at the time you want to drink it, however, it is best if after being heated up on the stove, to let it cool in the refrigerator for at least an hour. If you do, then the Sparkling Lemonade will have time to cool down and the refreshing drink, will indeed be, refreshing.

Tips for making the sparkling lemonade

    • Make a large batch with the sugar, water and lemon juice. Then place in the refrigerator. Add the Ginger Ale when ready to serve.
    • If you want to serve immediately, be sure to add ice to the drink to help it cool off and give the lemonade a stir.
    • When you make a batch of this, pour the unused portions into a container for later. Again, only add the Ginger Ale when ready to serve. This drink can last many servings and the family can make it when ever they want!

    FAQ

Can I add strawberries to this?

Yes! Place 1 or two cut strawberries in the drink. It will look pretty and taste great!

Do I have to let the lemon mixture cool down before I serve?

No, you don't. But it would be better if you did. The drink may still be warm, even with ice.

    Would a sugar substitute work?

I have not tried it with a sugar substitute.

This sparkling lemonade is simple to make and so refreshing on a hot sunny day. Enjoy this lemonade with Blueberry Cobbler or Cherry Dump Cake!
