Crisp and flavorful ranch potato wedges make a great side dish recipe for your supper!

I don't know about you, but I have a hard time coming up with side dish recipes for my family. I have them, of course, like this blueberry applesauce. A lot of the time, however, I find it easier to make a supper like this 3 ingredient roast beef and not focus on the side dish recipe.

Every good meal needs a good complimentary side dish, you know? So these Ranch Potato Wedges are the perfect addition to your menu. Simple, easy and can be in the oven cooking in no time.

    Ingredients

    • Russet potatoes
    • Ranch dry seasoning
    • Parmesan cheese
    • Olive oil

That is it! If you wanted to, you could add a little sea salt to the potatoes as well, but I don't feel these potato wedges need them.

potatoes, cheese, ranch seasoning and olive oil.

    Type of potatoes

The best potato for this recipe, is the Russet (aka Idaho) potato. We like the Yukon Gold potatoes for many potato dishes, but the Russet potato is a little more hardy and will hold up for these potato wedges better.

How to make ranch potato wedges

To start, wash the potatoes to get rid of any dirt on the outside of the potato. Then, slice the potatoes lengthwise.

The wedges size can be determined by you, but you will want them thin enough where they don't take too long to cook, but not to thin that they don't keep their shape well. I recommend cutting the potatoes in half, then half again, then half again.

    Olive oil

The olive oil is an important step as it is the fat on the potato. It will help the ingredients stick to the potato and it will increase the flavor of the recipe.

It is important not to use cooking oil for this recipe or the potatoes will taste oily and greasy.

Olive oil is a much better option.

Place the potatoes in a bowl and drizzle the olive oil over the top of the potatoes. Use your hands or a spoon to make sure the potatoes are covered completely with the oil.

    Seasoning and cheese

After adding the olive oil, sprinkle on the ranch seasoning and Parmesan cheese. Mix again.

That's it! This is a simple recipe you can put together quickly!

    Bake

Spread the potatoes out on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 35-45 minutes or until potatoes are soft.

    FAQ

Should the potatoes be covered while cooking?

No, they don't have to be covered with foil.

What happens if they potatoes are undercooked?

The potatoes will be harder and not as soft. It really is a preference how done you like your potatoes. We like our potatoes very soft.
