    Ranch Potato Wedges

    These Ranch Potato Wedges only have 4 ingredients including the potatoes! Such a simple recipe to put together, this great side dish recipe will go great with many suppers. It is kid friendly too!

    Crisp and flavorful ranch potato wedges make a great side dish recipe for your supper!

    I don't know about you, but I have a hard time coming up with side dish recipes for my family. I have them, of course, like this blueberry applesauce. A lot of the time, however, I find it easier to make a supper like this 3 ingredient roast beef and not focus on the side dish recipe.

    Every good meal needs a good complimentary side dish, you know? So these Ranch Potato Wedges are the perfect addition to your menu. Simple, easy and can be in the oven cooking in no time.

    Ingredients

    • Russet potatoes
    • Ranch dry seasoning
    • Parmesan cheese
    • Olive oil

    That is it! If you wanted to, you could add a little sea salt to the potatoes as well, but I don't feel these potato wedges need them.

    Type of potatoes

    The best potato for this recipe, is the Russet (aka Idaho) potato. We like the Yukon Gold potatoes for many potato dishes, but the Russet potato is a little more hardy and will hold up for these potato wedges better.

    How to make ranch potato wedges

    To start, wash the potatoes to get rid of any dirt on the outside of the potato. Then, slice the potatoes lengthwise.

    The wedges size can be determined by you, but you will want them thin enough where they don't take too long to cook, but not to thin that they don't keep their shape well. I recommend cutting the potatoes in half, then half again, then half again.

    Olive oil

    The olive oil is an important step as it is the fat on the potato. It will help the ingredients stick to the potato and it will increase the flavor of the recipe.

    It is important not to use cooking oil for this recipe or the potatoes will taste oily and greasy.

    Olive oil is a much better option.

    Place the potatoes in a bowl and drizzle the olive oil over the top of the potatoes. Use your hands or a spoon to make sure the potatoes are covered completely with the oil.

    Seasoning and cheese

    After adding the olive oil, sprinkle on the ranch seasoning and Parmesan cheese. Mix again.

    That's it! This is a simple recipe you can put together quickly!

    Bake

    Spread the potatoes out on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 35-45 minutes or until potatoes are soft.

    Should the potatoes be covered while cooking?

    No, they don't have to be covered with foil.

    What happens if they potatoes are undercooked?

    The potatoes will be harder and not as soft. It really is a preference how done you like your potatoes. We like our potatoes very soft.

    Equipment

    • 1 mixing bowl
    • 1 baking sheet

    Ingredients

    • 4 medium potatoes washed
    • ¼ cup olive oil
    • 2 tablespoon ranch dip mix
    • 1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese grated

    Instructions

    • Preheat oven to 400°.
    • Lightly grease baking sheet with cooking spray.
    • Cut the washed potatoes into wedges. Cut the potato into half lengthwise, then half again, then half again.
    • Place potatoes into a mixing bowl and drizzle with olive oil.
    • Using hands or spoon, coat the potatoes with the oil.
    • Add the ranch and Parmesan cheese.
    • Toss until coated.
    • Spread on the baking sheet greased with cooking spray. Making sure the potatoes are evenly spread out.
    • Bake for 35-45 minutes or until potatoes are soft.
    • Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Serve with sour cream or cheese if desired.
