- kidney beans - drained
- ketchup
- ground mustard
- vinegar - white
- brown sugar
- salt/pepper/garlic powder
- onion - white or yellow
- Worcestershire sauce
- bacon - or bacon bits
- liquid smoke - optional

Only one can of pork and beans is needed for this recipe as long as it is 16 oz. The other can should be kidney beans.
To cook in the oven
The venison will be cooked on the stove top with the onion either way, whether you decide to bake in the oven or in a crock pot. The beans will be added to the baking dish, then the ingredients added in. The venison will be added after the venison has completely cooked through.

The bacon can be bacon, already cooked and crumbled, or it can be bacon bits whichever you have on hand.
To cook in the crock pot
The same idea applies with the crock pot. The beans and the ingredients will be mixed together, then placed in the crock pot along with the cooked venison. It will take longer to cook in the crock pot so be sure to plan accordingly. In the oven, the venison baked beans will take about 35-45 minutes to cook.
Additionally, in the crock pot, it will take about 3 hours on high and you will need to stir it occasionally.

Tip
If you like your baked beans sweet, then keep in the amount of brown sugar listed. However, if a little less sweet is preferred, then lessen the brown sugar or omit it completely. The ketchup will add some sweetness on its on. The vinegar will help cut some of that down.
