Why you will love this recipe

    • This salad recipe is perfect to take to gatherings.
    • It is easy to make.
    • It only has 6 ingredients.
    • It can be mixed together in less than 10 minutes!

    Ingredients

    • vanilla yogurt - any brand
    • whipped cream - any brand
    • red apple - Gala or Cosmic
    • green apple - Granny Smith
    • cinnamon
    • pecans - walnuts can be used
yogurt, apples and nuts on a cutting board.

    Apple varieties

The apple varieties depends on your taste. One red apple and one green apple helps with the blend of flavors and it also adds a nice color to the salad. A Granny Smith is recommended because it brings the tartness to the apple salad. However, if you don't care for Granny Smith, a golden delicious would be fine.

As far as the red apple is concerned, a great apple with a lot of flavor is a Cosmic Apple. A Jonagold would be delicious as well. Gala always works well with salads. If you need a guide on what apples to use for baking and eating, here is an apple guide I made.

    Safe storage

If this creamy apple salad is going to an outdoor picnic, I recommend placing the bowl of salad in a larger bowl filled with ice to keep the salad at a safe temperature. Also, don't leave the salad in direct sunlight. Be sure to put the salad inside in the refrigerator when the eating is over.

    Making the salad

yogurt and whipped cream in a bowl.

The whipped cream and the yogurt is mixed together in a medium sized bowl. The apples and cinnamon are added and stirred in the whipped cream mixture.

green and red apples in a bowl.

Everything is blended together. It can be eaten right then, but it is best to let the salad sit in the refrigerator for at least an hour so the flavors have the time to blend together. The nuts will be added before serving.

    Pairings

This salad would serve alongside Best Baked Beans and Easy Strawberry Lemonade at picnics really well.

This creamy apple salad is so easy to make that busy families can make this up in a hurry and not be late to your family gathering. Enjoy!

      1. I do recommend Granny Smith for the tartness but you can use another green apple variety.
