Tortilla chips, bread, vegetables, this Cheesy Bacon Dip tastes great no matter what you put it on. Velveeta cheese, cream cheese and bacon that comes together in crock pot. Great for parties, gatherings and for friends!

With 4 easy ingredients, this dip melts together in the crock pot.

There are so many versions of a cheese dip out there, but this one is different. This one has four ingredients including bacon. Yes, smoky delicious bacon. The crock pot turns this 4 ingredient recipe into something that cooks on the side while you prepare other things. Cheesy Bacon Dip is creamy, flavorful and so easy to make.

    Types of cheese dip

The types of cheese dips are pretty endless. You could have a cream cheese base like this bacon cheese ball. This dip is a cold dip with no baking or heating. This cream cheese dip, Reuben dip is also cooked in the crock pot but has a cream cheese base. These are more savory dips.

There are also dessert dips like this Snickers Cookie Dough Dip. Of course, it is a more sweet dip.

This cheesy bacon dip starts with Velveeta cheese and cooks in the crock pot. It also has cream cheese, but the cream cheese isn't the hero of this recipe, the Velveeta is. And the bacon.

    Ingredients

    • Velveeta cheese
    • bacon
    • cream cheese
    • diced tomatoes with chili's

I will put the amount you need in the recipe card, but with this dip recipe, you really can tweak, adjust, add or lessen any ingredient.

How to bake bacon in the oven

I personally love to bake bacon in the oven. I find it simpler and less messy. It also makes it nice and crispy.

To bake bacon in the oven, put bacon on a lightly greased baking sheet. Lay the bacon flat and make sure the bacon isn't laying on top of each other. Bake it in a 400 degree oven for about 15 minutes or until your desired doneness. Sometimes I will use tongs to move the bacon around a little while cooking. Not really necessary, but sometimes I do.

    The cheesy bacon dip process

I have a smaller crock pot, like this one, that I like to use for dips such as these. You can certainly use a larger one, but I do feel it cooks better in smaller crock pot.

Just add the ingredients to the crock pot.

Add the Velveeta cheese, cream cheese and tomatoes with chili's in the crock pot. There is no need to drain the tomatoes, the "juice" helps with the flavor and adds a little more liquid to the dip.

Don't forget the cooked and crumbled bacon!

Next, add the bacon. For best results, cook the bacon until crispy and crumble it into little pieces.

    Melting

To melt everything together, cook the ingredients on high for 1 hour or low for 2. You will need to stir everything together occasionally to make sure nothing sticks or burns.

Melting the ingredients together only takes a couple of hours.

    Serve

Place this dip in a cute bowl surrounded by tortilla chips or bread. My daughter thought this dip tasted great with carrots. You could also just leave it in the crock pot and have everyone serve themselves.

    FAQ

Can I cook this on the stove top?

I don't recommend it. The slow cooking of the crock pot help all the flavors to blend together.

    Can I add sausage instead?

Sure! But then it is cheesy sausage dip and not cheesy bacon dip.

Do I have to add the cream cheese?

No, you don't. It does add a smoothness to the dip and helps it be more creamy. It will taste just as great with out it though.
