Cast iron skillets are especially for this white chocolate chip skillet cookie.
Everyone knows these types of cookies. They are the ones restaurants always advertise on menus or on a card propped above the ketchup and mustard. They look delicious, however by the time you eat the appetizer and meal, who has room for dessert? I don't.
Anyway, the picture of the skillet cookie always looks wonderful. While trying to think of a quick dessert to make my family, I thought, I should make a skillet cookie. Easy recipe, delicious and I use the cast iron skillet. My husband will be thrilled.

Why cast iron?
Cast iron skillets can cook on the stove top and also in the oven. They present well on the table as well. Also, these pans are hardy and sturdy.
The cookie can be sliced and then have ice cream placed on it or it can have the ice cream placed on top of the whole skillet cookie and served that way, with forks. More community style, I guess.
Making the white chocolate chip skillet cookie

Then add in the flour, baking soda and salt. After that is mixed, stir in the white chocolate chips.
Should I treat the pan before baking?
I lightly spray my skillet to prevent sticking. Usually, cookies don't need cooking spray but I like to in this skillet to ensure the cookies won't stick. Hi!
I just discovered your website! I'm loving it!
Can you tell me what size cast iron skillet to use for this recipe please?
Also, how can I find a plain white cake recipe?
Thanks!
Kim
Oh, thank you! I hope you are enjoying Baking With Mom! I used a 10 inch skillet for the White Chocolate Skillet Cookie. You can certainly use a 9 inch or 11 inch, just adjust the cooking times a little. (Less for a 11 inch, a couple of minutes more for a 9 inch.)
I personally don't have a white cake recipe. It is on my to do list for the new year. I made a chocolate cake a couple of months ago and my hubby said it was the best cake he had ever had. You can find it in the Peppermint Mocha Chocolate Cake recipe. Have a great New Year's!
