This iced tea is like no other! Raspberry Sorbet Iced Tea is easy to make and delicious to drink. The sweet taste of raspberry in classic sun tea. Great for warm summer days and fun family gatherings!

A fabulous treat on a warm spring day was this Raspberry Sorbet Iced Tea. I don't know about you, but I grew up on sun tea my whole life. It was a classic sight to walk out on the back steps and see the sun tea jar out and the tea bags floating in the water.

I really didn't care for it as a child that much. Things change as an adult though...

    Is sun tea safe?

Well, there is controversy on that. Some say that brewing tea in the sun is not safe. The tea does not heat up enough to kill possible bacteria that could be in the water or tea bags.

I have to say I never got sick from sun tea however I don't want to encourage a possible sickness. So in this recipe, I will include how to make sun tea (the base for the raspberry tea) and also how to brew it on the stove. I would recommend asking a health care professional before you make or drink sun tea.

    How to make Brewed Tea

To make brewed tea on the stove, you take 7 regular sized tea bags and put them in a small pot with 2 cups of water. Bring the water up to a boil and simmer for 20 minutes. Then let cool.

After the tea has cooled for 15 minutes, add to a gallon container and pour enough water to bring the liquid to the top of the pitcher. Let cool in the refrigerator.

    How to make sun tea

Take a large sun tea container, like this one and add water to about 2 inches from the top. Add 5 tea bags and close the lid tightly. Place in a warm, sunny location for 4 hours. Bring inside and place in refrigerator to cool.

Ice Tea with tea bags and a pink towel besides a tall glass.

After the tea has cooled, add two or more scoops of Raspberry Sorbet to a glass of tea. It would be about ½ cup of sorbet. It is certainly an option to add more or less depending on your tastes.

It is also an option to add a little sugar to your tea for a sweet tea instead of sugarless tea. If you add sugar to the gallon container, I would add 1 cup.
