Do you have leftover hamburger patties? Turn them into these Pizza Burgers! It is a simple and easy recipe great for a quick supper and it is kid friendly too!

pizza burger with cheese on top.

Good things can come from leftovers. Some people like leftovers. My husband loves it when I make extra and then he has some for lunch the next day. This recipe came from leftover hamburger patties that I made into a classic school lunch. The pizza sauce, the spices, the cheese... yes, this will be a favorite!

Pizza burgers shouldn't be mistaken for the ground beef version of this, Pizza Burger Sandwiches. Both are great, but this one uses leftover patties (or fresh, if desired!). The sandwiches can be used with loose meat ground beef and have all the pizza toppings with it. Of course, if homemade pizza is your thing, this homemade pizza dough is so, so good.

    Ingredients

    • hamburger patties - already cooked
    • pizza sauce
    • mozzarella cheese - shredded
    • Italian seasonings

The toppings you can add depend greatly on you and your tastes. If you are a plain and simple pizza type of person, then no need for a lot of extras. If you would prefer the works, here are some options.

    Options

    • onions
    • green peppers
    • mushrooms
    • pepperoni
    • bacon bits

If you are going to add any of those options, simply add them to the pan while warming up the sauce. Those ingredients will cook alongside the burgers.

    Using cooked burgers verses uncooked

The beauty of this recipe is to use leftover hamburgers to make the pizza burgers. However, if you have uncooked burgers, cook the burgers first, then add the sauce and other ingredients. Be sure the hamburgers are cooked fully first before adding the sauce. The hamburgers should reach an internal temperature of 150 degrees - 155 degrees for medium well.

    Leftovers

If you are using leftover hamburger patties, then only have the leftovers in the fridge for 24 hours. If it is fresh hamburger, it can be the fridge for up to 48 hours.

This is such an easy supper recipe. It is incredibly family friendly and a great way to use up leftovers!

    Ingredients

    • 6 hamburger patties already cooked
    • 14 oz pizza sauce any brand (I use Kroger)

    • 2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

    Instructions

    • Place already cooked hamburgers in a deep skillet.
    • Pour pizza sauce and Italian seasoning on top.
    • Let cook over medium low heat for about 10 minutes. It may start to splatter, if so, turn down heat to medium low.
    • Turn burner to low and sprinkle cheese on top of hamburgers.
    • After cheese melts, serve plain or on buns.

    Notes

Only use fully cooked hamburger patties for this recipe. See the post above for tips on making hamburgers.
