    Ingredients

    • sugar
    • corn syrup
    • peanut butter - crunchy or creamy, either will work
    • vanilla
    • Cheerios - regular cheerios or multigrain Cheerios work for this recipe

    The process

The making of the Cheerios Bars is quite simple. First the sugar and corn syrup are cooked together on the stove until the sugar has dissolved. That only takes a few minutes.

Then, the vanilla and peanut butter is added. Last, the Cheerios are stirred in.

    No bake bars

These Peanut Butter Bars are no bake, so once they are put into the greased pan, you are done! Well, they do need to set up so they can be cut without falling apart.

    Adding the chocolate topping

The chocolate topping is optional, however, I do recommend a little drizzle of chocolate on top of these gooey bars. It adds a nice color to the bars and chocolate and peanut butter just go together!

The chocolate is chocolate chips that is melted in a bowl in the microwave or in a small saucepan on the stove. It can be placed as frosting on top of the bars or just drizzled. Drizzled is preferred so the bars aren't too sweet.

    Tip

Don't use Toll House Chocolate Chips for the chocolate to melt on top. They are great chocolate chips, but they don't melt all that well. Which is good in cookies, not when used as a frosting or topping.
