A simple side dish or a quick appetizer, this Easy Garlic Tomato Flatbread is packed full of flavor yet so simple to make. Only a handful of ingredients, the tomatoes and garlic blend to accent the Italian Seasoning. And let's not forget the mozzarella cheese.

A simple appetizer recipe is just what we all need to have on hand. A side dish for supper, to pair with soup or grilled chicken, should be on the menu always. This Easy Garlic Tomato Flatbread couldn't be easier to make. You know all those fresh tomatoes you find in your garden or at the farmer's market? This would be a great recipe to use them in.

The basics of this flatbread is so simple. A store bought flat bread (I purchased mine at Aldi), topped with a butter/garlic/Italian seasoning spread, sliced tomatoes and Mozzarella cheese. Sprinkled at the end with Parmesan cheese.

It seriously is that easy and it is so delicious.

Can I use any type of cheese or tomatoes?

I would only recommend Mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese for this recipe. You can certainly use fresh Mozzarella cheese and freshly grated Parmesan cheese. That would certainly up the freshness and flavor content. That said, if you are like this busy mom, regular Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese work just fine.

Sun dried tomatoes would add a unique flavor. If you were in a hurry and didn't want to slice the tomatoes, you could use cherry tomatoes and just put the whole tomato on the flatbread. It would cut down time. I used Roma tomatoes.

What is in the butter spread?

The butter spread consists of softened margarine, garlic granules and Italian seasoning. The Italian seasoning is something I buy pre-mixed, but if you want to make your own, you can using this Italian seasoning recipe.

You use real butter if you prefer, however, I can't have most dairy so I opt to use margarine in my recipes.

After you spread the butter mixture on the flatbread, layer on the tomatoes, cheeses and extra sprinkle of Italian seasoning. Then bake in a preheated 350* oven for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.

Such a delicious and easy appetizer recipe your family will enjoy. Make it with Hamburger Tortellini Soup or Easy Beef Stew. Pairs great with a salad as well like Apple Cranberry Lettuce Salad.
