    Ingredients

    • cream of mushroom soup
    • French Fried Onions
    • milk - can use dairy free if needed
    • salt/pepper
green bean casserole ingredients, fried onions, cream of mushroom soup and green beans.

    Recipe Tips

    • It will take longer to cook in the crock pot verses the oven. So get it started a little earlier than you normally would.
    • The onions will not be added until about 30 minutes before serving. That way they don't get too soggy in the crock pot.
    • It is much easier and the crock pot stays cleaner for serving if you mix everything in a bowl first. That is up to you, however.

    Variations

    • You can use canned or frozen green beans. Canned is what we used and I like the flavor of them better. If you do use frozen green beans, be sure to let them thaw for a bit so they don't go in frozen and make everything soggy.
    • Garlic salt or powder can be used if you want a little bit of extra flavor in it. So can onion powder.
    • Cream of chicken soup can be used in place of cream of mushroom, if desired.
    • Dairy free and gluten free cream soups can be used.

    FAQ

How long do we cook the casserole?

1 ½ hours on high or 2 ½ hours on low. You will want to check it and stir.

Will it stick to the sides of the crock pot?

Be sure to grease the insert of the crock pot.

When do I add the fried onions?

Add the fried onions 20-30 minutes before serving. The onions can be stirred in or left on top. I prefer leaving the onions on top.

This easy Holiday side dish is a great way to add flavor and style to any Holiday menu!
