Ingredients
- graham crackers - gluten free can be used. See below.
- marshmallows - mini marshmallows
- chocolate bars - Hershey is a good choice
- butter - margarine can be used

Gluten free options
Everything in this recipe is gluten free except for the graham crackers. Those crackers have gluten in them. There are gluten free graham crackers which I feel are quite good. One issue you may run into if you use them, is they are rather crumbly. So to counter that, you may want to use a little extra butter to help them stay together a little better.
Layer the bars
The S'mores Dessert Bars are layered with the graham cracker on bottom and that will be baked first to help the graham crackers and butter stick together. The chocolate bars and marshmallows are next.

Note
The amount of chocolate listed in this recipe will be perfect for a 8 or 9 inch square pan. I had caught a 13 year old boy in the chocolate right before I made these bars. I ended up with less chocolate to use.

The marshmallows are arranged on top of the chocolate bars. If this is just for your family, feel free to dump the marshmallows on top of the chocolate. However, if you are trying to impress, the marshmallows should be arranged to form an even layer.
Bake
The dessert bars will be baked at 350 degrees for 7 minutes to start with just the graham cracker crumbs. Then with the chocolate and marshmallows, 7 minutes longer. The marshmallows need to be browned, if desired, and brown nicely under the broiler for 3-4 minutes. Be sure to watch so the don't get overly brown. You will want to keep an eye on this and it does depend on your oven and broiler.

Enjoy this simple fall dessert recipe. Or, if it is 90 degrees outside and you are wanting the taste of cooler weather, enjoy it in the summertime!
