    Ingredients

    • flour - unbleached or bleached will work
    • cornmeal - yellow or white
    • sugar
    • baking powder
    • salt
    • oil
    • eggs
    • milk - you can use half milk and half water if you would like to
    oil, cornmeal, flour, egg.

    Square baking pans

I like using a square baking pan with cornbread, however many prefer a round pan. Either work fine. The difference may appear in time of baking so be sure to adjust as necessary.

    Alternatives

    • Gluten free flour can be used in place of the all purpose flour.
    • Almond milk can be used instead of regular milk.
    • Canola oil will work instead of vegetable oil.
    • Honey works very well in place of the sugar.

    Additions

    • Add cheddar cheese to the batter for cheesy cornbread.
    • Add chopped green onions or chopped jalapenos for a little extra flavor.
    • Want a little sweet? Melt some butter and brown sugar on top of the cornbread.

    Bake/Storage

Bake at 425 degrees for 30 minutes or until tests done. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
