Warm crock pot cinnamon peaches with brown sugar and spices come together and make this a delicious dessert. Or side dish. Or snack. Yes, it can be eaten anytime.
When peaches are in season, sometimes we find ourselves with a lot of peaches sitting on our counters. After all, when they are sold by the bushel, how are we to pass up the delicious, sweet fruit?
One way to use up those peaches is to make crock pot cinnamon peaches. These peaches are warm, flavorful and can be eaten plain or used as ice cream topping. Warm peaches and cool vanilla ice cream? Yes, please.
These peaches are just plain, with not a topping. If you want a breading on top, you can try this Crock Pot Peach Dump Cake.
The process
The process to make this simple side dish (or is it a dessert?) is very simple. You slice and peel peaches and add it to a crock pot.
Then, you take various spices such as brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice and put it on top of the sliced peaches.
Cook time
There is no need to stir the peaches yet. Wait about 1 hour of cooking, then give the peaches a stir. By now your house will be smelling just lovely and your family will want a taste of the peaches.
The peaches will cook for about 2 ½ hours on high.
The peaches will be done when they have softened enough to not be hard. But you don't want them overly soft either. In other words, don't let them get mushy.
You can eat the peaches plain or put some vanilla ice cream on top of them. The warm peaches combine with the cool vanilla ice cream. So easy and so good!
