When stocking a kitchen, we always think of the must have big items. Sometimes, the little, but important, kitchen items are forgotten.  Here are my top 15 must have kitchen gadgets.

    15 must have kitchen gadgets

Back when I got married, which seems like ions ago, I was a young 19 year old with big hopes and dreams.  Also, I had no clue as to what it takes to make a house run. I knew I needed certain items for my kitchen, such as towels or a stove, but I didn't think about what else I would need.  Of course, I did when we went to the store the first time to pick up the salt, sugar and potato peeler. Rows upon rows of items can be overwhelming when trying to shop for your kitchen for the first time.

I thought I would put together a list of 15 must have kitchen gadgets that every couple starting out would appreciate. Little items add up for the newlyweds.  If a basket of goodies can be put together for a wedding shower or the wedding gift, you would have a happy bride-to-be.  And a happy groom-to-be because he wouldn't have to be stuck in the kitchenware department looking at cat shaped salt and pepper shakers while trying to decide if he should voice his opinion or keep it to himself.

Here's to hoping he keeps it to himself.

    spoons1

     Wooden Spoon

The classic, inexpensive wooden spoon is a must have in every kitchen. It is the fall back for every recipe. Need something to stir? Grab the wooden spoon. This must have is cheap and would be a great addition to your gift basket.

    cooling rack

    Cooling Racks

Another inexpensive kitchen item. Even if they don't like to bake, these cooling racks are handy for a variety of dishes.

    Bella Rocket Blender

This is the less expensive version of the Magic Bullet.  I have one like this one and I am quite pleased with it. The gift receiver might look a little puzzled when they open it and wonder if they will ever use it.  They will.  Trust me.

    salt

    Salt and Pepper Shakers

They don't have to be little cats or monkeys or Coke bottles. They can just be clear, plain salt and pepper shakers. Everyone needs them and everyone uses them. I've had the same pair for 18 years now.

    apron2

    Apron

Everyone needs an apron. She may look at you like you are trying to make her be her Aunt Bess, but trust me, she will grow to appreciate an apron. I use mine more than I ever thought I would. Besides, aprons are cute and fun now.  There are so many to choose from at Flirty Apron.

    Small Crock Pot

Everyone always buys the big Crock Pots.  Don't get me wrong, I own one.  Actually, up until recently, I owned two. However, I also have a small crock pot and it is so handy.  I cook chicken in it or dips.  It is also great for family gatherings. (Think baked beans.)

    Pastry Blender

Okay, I'll be honest.  I didn't have a clue what this was when I found it in the box of items from my mom's house. I knew it was a kitchen gadget, but I didn't know what.  Once I figured out its use, it is a rather handy tool to have.  It will help many a pie crust be made. ;-)

Tomorrow I will have the other 8 must have kitchen gadgets.  Do you agree with my list so far? What do you think?
