Spiced Pecan Pie Apple Bars have the great taste of fall mixed in a delicious dessert. Perfect for your fall gathering or cookout, these bars will be a hit!
Fall is in the air. I don’t know about you, but fall is my favorite time of year. Oh, sure, I enjoy summer because the kids are off of school and I enjoy spring because new life is everywhere. There is just something about fall that seems so special.
Part of it may be because fall means apple season. Apple season means pie season. Pie season means, well, any type of pie can be made in pie season. ;-)
{Do you like to bake when the weather gets cooler? How about a chance to win a Kitchen Aid Mixer? Enter below!}
Fall also means family gatherings for cookouts in which delicious desserts can be made. I truly enjoy sitting by the fire talking with family and friends (with a table full of delicious food nearby).
Love the sight of corn ready to be harvested!
We usually go to a few cookouts throughout the fall season. We often will have one at our house and my husband’s sister will have one at her house. As I enjoy creating in the kitchen, I usually try to come up with something a little different for a dessert. This year, I was able to come up with a dessert involving apples and a delicious pecan pie flavor thanks to these M&M's® Pecan Pie.
I found these M&M’s® Pecan Pie in the seasonal section at Walmart. They have that wonderful flavor of a Pecan Pie in the M&M's® candy we all love. I thought I would combine the taste of fall, apple, with the Pecan Pie flavor of the M&M's®. Delicious!
While at Walmart to pick up a Pillsbury™ Moist Supreme® Yellow Cake Mix to make these Spiced Pecan Pie Apple Bars with, I also grabbed a Snapple® Apple for the glaze on the apple bars. Mott’s® Applesauce would be perfect for the food table as well. All of these items are so easy to find. {The best part about using the Snapple® for the glaze is there will some left to drink with the dessert!} :-)
The spiced pecan pie apple bars are so easy to make, you will be able to whip them up in a hurry or make ahead for later that evening.
The cake itself is only a few ingredients. Simply mix 1 stick butter (melted) with two eggs.
Then add the Pillsbury™ Moist Supreme® Yellow Cake Mix and stir. You can add 1 tsp of cinnamon to the batter.
Spread in a greased jellyroll pan. Top with sliced and peeled apples. Add M&M's® Pecan Pie.
Bake at 350* for 12-15 minutes until lightly browned and toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. When bars have cooled completely, pour 1 cup powdered sugar into a small bowl. Whisk in ¼ cup Snapple® Apple.
Pour glaze on top of Spiced Pecan Pie Apple Bars.
Serve at your fall cookout or gathering!
The dessert table all ready for our cookout!
