Proverbs 31:26
She opens her mouth with wisdom, and teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
You can make or break someone with your words, you know that? Of course you do. I'm sure you have been built up or torn down by something someone has said to you. I could never understand "sticks or stones can break your bones but words can never hurt you". Yes they can. Words cut right to the heart.
The Proverbs 31 woman speaks kindness and wisdom. What she says builds up, encourages and strengthens. In Titus, the older women are called to "teach what is good" and "train the younger women". We are called to lead by example to others around us. Gossiping, angry speech, insulting and unkind words are not to come from our mouths.
It's hard when we are being watched all the time. From unbelievers who watch either with an open heart or an angry mind to a fellow Christian, we are being watched on how we act and speak. We want to represent God and Christ. We can't do that if our words are hateful and demeaning. I've changed a lot and have grown in my walk with the Lord. However, I used to participate in the angry talk and gossip. Looking back, why did I go there? What did it gain except adding more fuel to a fire? I'm sorry for my actions many years ago and I strive to do better daily. It isn't easy to always be a Proverbs 31 or Titus 2 woman. However that is what God has called us to be. Think of the example you can be to others.
