Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her; Many women have done excellently but you surpass them all.
What an praise. I love making my husband happy. I love helping and caring for my children. I don’t need the recognition, but who doesn’t appreciate being noticed?
The key is to make sure you do things throughout the day for your family without expecting a praise or a thank you. Sometimes that is so hard. When I have chased children, cooked, baked, ran children places, mopped the floor (only to have a pile of crumbs on it 15 minutes later), washed sheets, etc, etc… I wouldn’t mind a “great job, honey”. However, I shouldn’t need it. Why?
Because everything I do is ultimately for the Lord and HE knows what I do.
Now, I don’t want you to think I am superwife who has it all together. I don’t. Sometimes I get rather, um, disgruntled when it has been a rather long day and no one seems to notice my hard labor. The fault is on ME when that happens. My husband has a duty to love, support and appreciate me. He does, of course. Yet, my attitude when he doesn’t say anything, needs to be understanding. Everything I do should be for the Lord. Did I please Him in the way I ran my household?
I hope my actions throughout the day make my husband say “many women have done excellently but you surpass them all”. Even if he doesn’t say it, I want to know I did enough to deserve it and rest in that.
