So Moms, has the craziness of the school year started for you yet? It certainly has here. Homework, school drop off/pick up, after school activities and school sports are running strong already and it has only been 2 weeks!
Our oldest is very active in school. We enjoy watching him participate in activities and sports and one of our favorites is cross country. Cross country runners need so much endurance, running those three miles up and down hills, through grass and mud. As a mom, I want to give him as much energy and nutrients as I can before a race to help him to the finish line. Now, I don’t know if you have a runner in your house, but we have a couple. (My hubby even finished a marathon!) If I have heard anything about what to feed athletes before and after a race it would be bananas and chocolate milk. Both are great for a runner’s muscles and recovery after the race.
Ryan has his first race of the new school year coming up and I want him to be ready! With that in mind, I headed to Walmart to buy the ingredients I needed to make the Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal Bars and to pick up the Sir Bananas® Chocolate Bananamilk and the Sir Bananas® Bananamilk. Three of our four children are in school now (with the youngest in Kindergarten with me) so we need all the nutrients Sir Bananas® Bananamilk provides!

Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal Bars
The Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal Bars are great for breakfast and for snack. They are great for your athlete or for the morning of a big test. You can whip them up while the kids are at school (then you may get a few for yourself). 😉
First, mash up a banana in a medium mixing bowl.
Then add peanut butter and applesauce.
Mix in the remainder of the ingredients and pour into a 8 or 9 inch square baking dish.
Bake at 350* for 30 minutes or until top is golden brown and center is set.
When given these bars to enjoy, our children loved the peanut butter and banana flavor. When offered to our runner, he told me the bars were perfect and paired with the Sir Bananas® Chocolate Bananamilk, it couldn’t miss.

Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal Bars
These Peanut Butter Oatmeal Bars are the perfect snack or breakfast. They are healthy and filling for your on the go family!
- 1 ripe banana
- 1/2 cup peanut butter crunchy
- 1/2 cup applesauce
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups old fashioned oatmeal
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
Mash up the banana in a medium bowl
Add peanut butter and applesauce. Mix well
Add the rest of the ingredients and stir until completely mixed together
Preheat oven to 350*
Spray 8 or 9 inch square pan with cooking spray
Place batter in pan and bake for 30 minutes or until top is golden brown and center is set
Remove from oven and let cool. Cut into squares and serve
