It is that time of year again. My soon to be five year old is planning what cake his mom will (attempt to) make. He saw his sister’s Candy Land cake so naturally he thought it looked great. What wouldn’t look great about it? It is candy and cake. 🙂 I had asked him to think about what he REALLY wants. What would make his birthday HIS. He said an army cake. He is always dressing up as a soldier and playing with his army men. You know that scene in Toy Story where the Army man was stepped on? Never leave a man behind, they said. That was my house a few days ago.
Ouch, said mom. No shoes.
I stepped on a sign in the warzone. The scene from the movie came flooding back to me with various soldiers crouched along the pathway. He is all boy and I’m loving every minute of it. Painful foot and all. (We did have a talk on NOT putting the warzone by the stairs.)
I am on a search for the perfect Army cake. When I make homemade birthday cakes, I usually combine several cakes ideas into one. The ideas are combined so I can make it without too much stress. (The easy parts of the cake stays, the complicated parts go.) I have said before, the cakes aren’t usually perfect, but they are appreciated by my children.
Do you have any ideas for me? If you have made one in the past, please send in a picture of it. If you simply have an idea, I would love to hear it. Thank you in advance!
