A fun birthday cake your child will love. Easy to make and a cinch to decorate. Also fun to snack on as you make it!
If I was presented with this Candy Land Birthday Cake when I was a child, I probably would have cried with happiness.
We try to eat healthy in our house. (I know, this picture doesn’t agree with that statement!) We feel moderation is the key so when I made this cake, I tried not to worry about all the candy. Of course, it wasn’t like we ate the cake ourselves. We had plenty of guests to enjoy it with us. :-) Though it was quite hard to share. I mean, look at it! Total deliciousness.
This Candy Land Birthday Cake was fun to make, fun to eat and fun to look at!
Candy Land Birthday Cake
- I took two box cake mixes and baked them according to package directions in two 9×13 pans sprayed with cooking spray. I took them out of the pans after cooling about 10 minutes. I then put the two cakes side by side.
- I took a knife and made the tops of the cake level. (This makes for some great snacking with the scraps of cake!)
- I frosted the cake using Wilton’s Buttercream Frosting recipe.
- With the game as a guide, I decorated the cake with candy. I used starburst for the walkway, candy canes, ice cream cones, extra frosting, sprinkles, gumdrops, and Dum Dums. There really isn’t a secret to making the cake look like Candy Land. Use your imagination and have fun. The kids love to help with this cake. It also is quite easy to snack as you go. Gotta watch that (from kids and hubby!). ;-)
The guests were impressed and since this was my very first “themed” cake, I was too! :-)
