Friday is Valentine’s Day!
I know you know that. The question is: Do your husbands know that? 😉
About two years ago, I decided my daughter and I needed to do something special for the boys in our family. Cora would have been about 6 so she was all for the idea. But what should we do?? We came up with a meal plan. A fancy meal plan. The boys would go upstairs (in our old house our extra space was upstairs) and we would serve the boys a Valentine meal they wouldn’t likely forget. Or we hoped. Here’s how we did it:
- We planned out a menu. From the appetizer to the main dish to the dessert, we made a menu. An actual menu the boys could choose what they wanted to eat off of it. Some courses only had one choice, like the main dish, but they could choose between applesauce or a salad. They could choose between water or milk to drink, etc…
- We set and decorated the table. We had fancy pitchers, candles and nice plates.
- We wore our aprons and waited on the boys the whole meal. We ate too, but if they wanted something, we did it for them. We would pour their drink or get more rolls.
- We did all the clean up. My husband enjoyed that part of it!
Cora and I had a lot of fun serving the men of our family. Considering everyone still talks about it, I think it was a success! Tomorrow I will show you our plan for this Valentine’s day. It isn’t the romantic dinner out for my husband and I, but it is the stage of life we are in right now. We will go on a date some other night. (Month?) 🙂
Do you and your children do something special for Valentine’s Day?
